The design of multifunctional lighting waaggebouw (1657) leiden

‘De Waag’ (the Scales), together with the ‘Boterhuis’ (Butterhouse), an original wooden building, was rebuilt in stone during the Golden Age (1657) by the architect Pieter Post. The delightful carvings are by Rombout Verhuls. The building is used for cultural events such as exhibitions, theatre performances, concerts, etc. The assignment: the design of multifunctional lighting. In both places, Van Nieuwenborg has chosen a double row of bow-shaped fluorescent tubes which spread a warm light.
